Emerging Market Healthcare Ltd (EMC) is a provider & patient initiative, established in 2003/4 when the founding Black doctor group (DFPA) took the decision to create a healthcare contracting entity and an in-house IT platform, driven by providers, to prepare for and adapt for anticipated reforms in healthcare information.

The DFPA is one of the oldest IPA groups in the country, having been formed in 1984. 

Below is a summary benefit schedule as an active paid-up member of EMC/DFPA. These are outlined in categories for reference and is over and above what we do in representing your practice in general network and practice management with stakeholders from the public ( NDOH, WCDOH) and private sector ( administrators, Big Pharma and other ).  The monthly membership fee is R470. There is no joining fee. Kindly contact the network management team if you are interested in joining up as a paying member to access these benefits.

Medical Waste Management – Collection and delivery – ONLINE and via email 

Kindly note this service is only available in the Western Cape.

  1. All DFPA doctors receive 2 free deliveries per annum of 2 x 90L Boxes & 2 x 5L Sharp bins
  2. Western Cape Health Care Risk Waste Management Regulation has passed legislation guiding processes and policy for medical waste management at your practice
  3.  The system is called IPWIS (The Integrated Pollutant and Waste Information System). 
  4. All Doctors are required to sign up on this system.
  5. Legislative IPWIS registration and documentation support and facilitation
